Competition: win a book documenting the work of designer Maarten Baas
Dezeen is giving two readers the chance to win a signed copy of Maarten Baas Hide and Seek, a book filled with projects by the Dutch designer.
The 224-page hardback features photographs of Baas' collections, which are currently on show at the Groninger Museum in the Netherlands as part of a major retrospective of the same name.

The book includes Baas' well-known range of charcoal furniture titled Smoke, which he developed for his graduation show at Design Academy Eindhoven in 2002. A collection of furniture called Carapace, which is based on turtles and bees, also features in the monograph.

Photographs of Baas' work are accompanied with poems by Dutch writer Ingmar Heytze, as well as a contribution from Dezeen founder and editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs.
In an exclusive interview with Dezeen at the preview for the Groninger exhibition, Baas explained the meaning behind the title of the show and accompanying book.

"I'm always seeking new things, but I'm also hiding by playing different roles," the designer said. "Throughout my career, I have used quite different ways of expressing myself. Sometimes I am very flamboyant and outgoing, and on the other hand, I can be very introverted."
"But I'm also literally hiding often! For instance, I've been not in Milan for a couple of years. And some of my designs are a way of hiding too, like the Carapace cabinets," he added. "They are a symbol of me going back into myself and being protected from the outer world – including the Dezeen website!"
