Georgia Tech's School of Industrial Design program focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship. Our undergraduate and graduate programs offer comprehensive courses emphasizing human-centred design, critical thinking, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The innovation and entrepreneurship course encourages students to learn by creating. For the course's 'Make 10' project, students design a limited-edition product, refine it for cost-effective manufacturing and then market and sell ten at the year-end LaunchPad event.

This event draws hundreds of shoppers to the campus annually and successful products have led to the launch of start-ups and the winning of significant awards.

The Arch Lamp, designed by Junzhe Yan was sold out in minutes. Combining craft ideas with machine-fabricated parts, it features a dimmable filament sewn through acrylic for a stunning lighting effect.

Students explore passion projects that allow them to combine design thinking skills with start-up ingenuity.

This course is a gateway to other campus-wide resources like the Create-X program, which provides tools and coaching to help students develop and launch start-ups based on design ideas. This year, over 130 teams have been funded to solve problems creatively and dream big.
